With the new ABS M5 kit, Bosch Motorsport adapted an ABS system specifically for use in motorsport that offers engineers a high level of flexibility during the car setup. The revised ABS control algorithm and completely new hardware ensure improved wheel slip control and enhance brake performance. Individual car parameters can be calibrated with software free of charge.

Wheel speed sensor

Wheel speed sensors

The ABS M5 system requires specially processed wheel speed signals which are provided exclusively by active speed sensors such as those of the Bosch DF11 family. These double Hall-effect sensors work according to the differential principle. The signals of all four speed sensors must be available to the ABS M5 – otherwise, the system suspects a fault and switches off. Therefore, use only speed sensors such as those included in the ABS M5 package. We offer different DF11 variants for individual vehicle designs. We are also happy to test existing sensors for usability.

Function switch

While driving, the driver can use the ABS map switch to select different control settings and find the optimum setting for his driving style. For this reason, make sure the switch is mounted within reach of the driver. Many have found it helpful to fit a diagram showing the current switch position. The switch position is also broadcast on the CAN Bus so it can be displayed with a dash (e.g. the DDU 9 and DDU 10 from Bosch Motorsport).

The 260 bar pressure sensors inform about the instantaneous hydraulic operating pressure in both brake circuits.

The sensor with +/- 4.2 g acceleration range measures the transversal accelerations.

ABS warning light

The included wiring harness is structured in such a way that the power supply to the ABS warning light (MIL) is branched off before the main switch for ABS M5 (terminal 30). This is the only way to ensure that the ABS warning light (MIL) is lit when ABS M5 is not working. Cable length connector to electronic board: 600 mm
