Many different things pose a challenge to modern racing drivers. Let’s take a glimpse into their perspective.
G-forces
Strong centrifugal forces and vibrations push drivers to the limit during the race. Naturally, they must stay in good physical condition and keep a tight fitness schedule to endure these forces.
Exhaustion
SUPER GT races can be very long—as a result, regulations require that each car is driven by at least 2 drivers who share the driving duty. Did you know? The color of the light on the upper left corner of the front windshield shows which driver is driving.
Safety
Helmets are the primary protective gear of a driver as well as a HANS (Head and Neck Support) device. This disperses the impact on the head and neck across the whole shoulder. Inside the car, safety belts are a crucial lifesaver. SUPER GT drivers are tightly strapped into the cockpit by a six-point harness: two shoulder straps, two pelvic straps and two leg straps.
